the philosophy

The artistic process as I understand it has three layers: the rootwork that requires rhythmic care, the narration that needs alchemising of emotions and cashing reality checks, and the blooming that is about beauty and service. Rootwork, alchemy and blooming and what expires returns to the soil.

Underground. Sometimes struggle is an attack or a pressure, but more often it's the discomfort of not knowing yet. We fight and hold on until our resources run down, or we let go at the first setback and call it grace. Struggle asks for balance, and balance comes from resonance rather than force.

03 the sauce

Where the wings of the individual and the contribution to society would be, a bird of paradise: freedom. Everybody has sauce, the original quality you love from. The way we deal with our struggle decides the health of that sauce, the way we narrate our story decides the taste. The sauce needs a cup and the cup needs to be off proportionate size so we don’t spill nor have to feel like the amount is scarce.

Where roots becomes a story to experience and exchange. The story in your head, the one you're living, the one you're presenting and the one you're planning all have to say the same thing, in the same context; which gets harder the more you love it. A story can be narrated from different positions and with different perspectives.

02 the story

01 the struggle

01 the soundboard

Rhythm. Tell me what's on your heart and I give you a question for a truth and a dare towards flow.

For you if — you can feel a problem you can't yet see, or you need to say something out loud and haven't found anyone who can hear it without flinching.

What you get — ninety minutes, and a short recap afterwards so you can read back what lifted and what question you left with.

How it runs — Monday and Thursday afternoons, online or in Amsterdam.

the practice

02 the reading

Send me your documents and I’ll read between the lines to align plan and promise.

For you if — you can write it yourselves and want someone to read it before it goes, if it's so close to your heart that it's stopped feeling professional or if the plan was made in a room without all stakeholders at the table.

What you get — notes and questions after the first read, two weeks to integrate them and come back with what-abouts, then a second read focused on the person or organisation receiving it.

How it runs — about six weeks from first document to final response. Dutch or English.

03 the sketch

Show me your sauce and I sketch you a cup you can craft

For you if — an idea keeps returning and never starts, or a pattern in your organisation keeps coming back no matter who's in the room. Not a crisis but potential that isn't being met.

What you get — a presentation, which is the philosophy articulated. An execution plan, which is the philosophy translated into action. And journaling questions, for the part only you can do.

How it runs — an email, a thirty-minute call, then three sessions as the basis plus my own drawing time.
